Part 2. How to create a .srt file

You can create .srt format subtitles totally on your own. To make .srt format subtitles, you can follow below steps:

Open Notepad, WordPad or other text editor. Edit subtitles shown as below:

Type "1" (without quotes) and then press "Enter" to start creating the first subtitle phrase.

Enter the time span to display the subtitle phrase when playing the movie. For example, if you want the first subtitle phrase to be displayed from the second minute to the third minute of the movie, type "00:02:00 --> 00:03:00" (without quotes) and press "Enter."

Type the subtitle phrase and press "Enter" to finish creating the first subtitle phrase.

Type "2" (without quotes) for the second subtitle phrase and follow steps 3 and 4 to create the second subtitle phrase. Do the same for the other subtitle phrases that you want to create, but ensure that you separate the subtitle phrases into numbered sections.

Save the file in the SRT file format after you finish creating it. To do so, click "Start" and then click "Save." Select "All Files" from the "Save as type" drop-down menu. Next, type a name into "File name" field and type ".srt" (without quotes) after it. Click "Save."

Notes:
1. Save .srt file as "ANSI" if using English subtitles.
2. Save .srt file as "UTF-8" if using non-English subtitles.

Step 1. Drag and drop this MP4 file to Pavtube Video Converter.

Step 2. Choose output file format.

From "Format" bar drop-down list, select one of your desired formats to convert to, here, to keep a balance between video quality and file size, it is ideal for you to output H.264 MP4 format.

Step 3. Click "Edit" or the pencil icon edit video to switch to the editing interface, where you can find multiple editing functions and "Subtitle" is just one of them. Click the "Subtitle" tab and check the "Enable" box to allow you to add SRT/ASS/SSA subtitles to MP4 videos. Then Click "Browse" to find and import the downloaded SRT/ASS/SSA subtitles.
