You see wallpapers, multitasking, app folders as well as the A4 chip, camera, microphone, the longer battery, and Retina Display due to the changed body. For me, the most favored part is the Retina display which makes everything you see on iPod Touch 4 looks amazing. Games, movies and photos, all these are crisp and sharper. And that’s maybe what they call it “cutting edge”. I did try it with 720p movies, and the new iPod Touch 4th gen performs better than I expected! Vibrant image quality with stunning motions. Now I’m going to transfer all my blu-ray movie collections to the iPod Touch 4th gen. And I’d like to share with you how to shrink blu-ray movies to 720p video on Mac and put the blu-ray movies on iPod Touch 4.
Blu-Ray to iPod Touch Ripper for Mac

Step 1. Get ready for the blu-ray to iPod Touch 4 conversion.
Connect the external BD drive with your Mac/ MacBook, and place the blu-ray disc in the blu-ray disc drive. Download a trial of Blu-Ray to iPod Touch 4th Gen Ripper for Mac. Double click to install the program, and then run the Blu-Ray to iPod Touch 4 Gen Ripper for Mac. Note that the trial works with Intel processor only and put a Pavtube Logo on generated videos.
Step 2. Load blu-ray movie to the Blu-Ray to iPod Touch 4th Gen Ripper for Mac
When the main interface pops up, click “BD/DVD Folder ” to load Blu-Ray movie from BD drive. The movie is listed chapter by chapter, and you could preview them and uncheck the chapters you do not want to rip. If you would like to rip the whole movie, select all the chapters and check the box “Merge into one”.
Step 3. Set output format for iPod Touch 4th Gen.
Click on the Format bar, and choose an appropriate format in iPod group. The video formats supported by iPod Touch 4th Gen are listed below:
a. H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
b. MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
c. Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
In iPod group you can find MPEG-4 and H.264 encoded iPod Touch video formats up to 640*480. To get 720p HD video quality, you got to do some format setting work. In order to shrink Blu-Ray to iPod Touch 4th Gen 720p video, you may follow HD Video>>H.264 HD Video (*.mp4), and click on “Settings” button to set video and audio parameters as it shows in the following picture:
You may click “Save As” and save this settings as a new format for iPod Touch 4th Gen, and find it in Custom group next time.
Step 4. Start compressing blu-ray movie to iPod Touch 4th Gen 720p video
Click the “Convert” button at bottom right to start ripping blu-ray movie to iPod Touch 4th Gen 720p video. A popup progress window will show you detailed information of the task. After conversion, you can find the ripping files via clicking “Open” button.
Step 5. Sync movies to iPod Touch 4th Gen
To sync videos to iPod Touch 4th Gen, you need to connect your new iPod Touch with Mac and make sure the videos are added to iTunes Library first. To add videos to iTunes Library, just open iTunes 10, select “Movies” in “Library” and follow “File”>> “Add to Library”.
When the iPod Touch 4th Gen is ready for iTunes, you will find “DEVICES” field appears with “My iPod” as a sub item. Select “My iPod”, click the Summary tab and select “Manually manage music and videos” below Options.
Unfold “My iPod”, you’ll see “Music”, “Movies” and “TV shows”, and you need to drag the ripped movies from the “Movies” of iTunes Library to “Movies” below “DEVICES”>> “My iPod”.
After the movies are transferred to iPod Touch 4th Gen, click the Eject button before you disconnect the iPod Touch 4th Gen.
