Edit Shadowplay video in Sony Vegas Pro Successfully

You might also be one of the people that can't edit Shadowplay video in Sony Vegas Pro after updated. Report showed that when people load Shadowplay video in Sony Vegas Pro, it shows green video but also is fine. In the forums.geforce.com, there are too many people that have the issue. But none solution was offered. I have also digged around and fortunately found two methods that you could have a try.

Method 1: How to Fix .MP4 Green corruption/stuttering in Sony Vegas?

Note - If you have any Sony Vegas below Sony Vegas 8 you will NOT have the general tab - you will have to upgrade in order to get it.  Also, if you have a 64 bit computer you may not be able to locate file iO in your standard program folder - check program folder (32Bit) and you should find a duplicate Sony folder with File iO in it :)

Step 1. Open an .MP4 format clip in Sony Vegas.

Right click on it and press properties

go to the General Tab - scroll to bottom

identify the plug-in name.dll

close Sony Vegas

Step 2. Open my computer - go to file at which your Sony Vegas is installed go FileIO-plugin - find plugin file in FileIO. DONT GO INTO THE FILE. Edit the name to whatever you want. follow admin procedures. - (continue/ accept) - Close Windows Explorer

Step 3 - Open Vegas again and find the same format file as before - click on it and put it on your timeline. It should work perfectly.. if you go into your properties again (you dont have to) you'll see that the .dll plugin is different.

You can see the same video tutorial in this link. The comments below showed that this way worked in most cases.

Method 2: Convert Shadowplay video to Sony Vegas Pro Compatible Video

This is an ultimate way to solve the issues caused by Shadowplay video codec, frame rate, container, etc. If you record in Shadowplay, always use a program like Pavtube Video Converter, which is free-to-try, to put the Shadowplay video into whatever codec you like, but with a constant framerate. That, among other things, is something you need to do and are able to do within the program. This also removes the fact that audio can get out of sync with the video, due to the variable framerate with Shadowplay.

This well-known video converter can convert ShadowPlay video to a constant framerate keeping H.264 video codec, AAC audio codec and MP4 container for Sony Vegas. It also can transcode ShadowPlay video to MP4, MOV, etc and other Sony Vegas Pro compatible formats. You can configure the video and audio encoder codec, video frame rate, video bitrate, video resolution, audio channel, audio sample rate, audio bitrate to make your output video most compatible with Sony Vegas Pro.

Besides Shadowplay, it also can convert OBS video, Action! recording, Bandicam recording, XSplit Gamecaster recording, D3DGear recording, Dxtory files, Fraps files, WM Capture files, Tivo recordings files to Sony Vegas Pro 14/13/12/11. For Mac users, you can turn to  Pavtube Video Converter for Mac  to convert Shadowplay video files into Vegas Pro.

To make your Sony Vegas Pro 14/13/12 to readthe output files, just choose the most Sony Vegas accepted "WMV (VC-1) (*.wmv)" or MPEG-2 under "Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas" option as output format. Since Sony Vegas Pro also accept HEVC codec video, which offer the same video quality with smaller size comapring to H.264 codec video. So you also can choose H.265 MP4 here for Sony Vegas Pro 14. For high resolution video, you can choose H.264 MP4 video from "HD Video"
