How to Transfer photos, videos and music files to Galaxy Note 2 via Connecting Galaxy Note II to PC/Mac?

The hybrid supports HD contents up to 1920*1080 a wide range of multimedia codec: DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and more. Mostly you can play MP4, WMV, AVI videos to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 without a hitch. But before that you need to put your media to Galaxy Note II. a. How to transfer files between Galaxy Note 2 and a Windows computer?

If you're connecting to your computer to get media across and you're a Windows user, you'll have few issues; just make sure you have installed the USB driver.

1. To get a Windows PC recognize Galaxy Note 2, you should download and install the USB drivers for the Galaxy Note 2.

2. Connect your Galaxy Note 2 to your PC using the supplied USB cable.

3. A prompt will appear on the screen of the Galaxy Note phone. Now tap the indicator icons area and drag it downwards to open the notifications panel.

4. Select Connected as a media device > Media device (MTP) – Use this selection if you wish to use Windows Explorer or the Mac Finder to manually transfer files between the PC and the Galaxy Note 2 phone or to utilize Windows Media Player.

5. Transfer files between your Galaxy Note 2 and the computer.

Note: Before disconnecting the device from the computer, safely remove the mass storage device. Otherwise, you may lose data saved in your device or damage your device.

b. How to transfer files from Mac to Samsung Galaxy Note II?

Your Galaxy Note II can transfer music and videos using Samsung Kies software for your Mac, Kies air on your phone, or 3rd-party app Android File Transfer. You can download the Kies software by visiting the Kies website.

1. Open the Samsung Kies software.

2. Connect your device to your Mac using the supplied USB cable.

3. Your device should connect automatically and show in the left panel of Kies. You may need to change the USB settings if you cannot connect; swipe your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom to open the Notification Panel and touch Connected as a camera. Touch Media device (MTP) to change the USB settings. The Notification Panel should show Connected as a media device, as shown in the screenshot below.

4. In Kies library, mark the media (photos, music, and videos) you want to transfer to your device and then click “Transfer to device”.

c. How to transfer 1080p/720p MKV, AVI, MTS, MPG, MOV, etc to Galaxy Note II video?

Despite its powerful multimedia processing ability, the Galaxy Note 2 does not play all the video collections on your computer. As we mentioned, mostly MP4, WMV, AVI videos play well on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Sometimes you can’t transfer 1080p videos to Galaxy Note due to file size limit. When Samsung Galaxy Note 2 refuses to play/sync a video, it could be due to one or more of the following reasons:

-         Unsupported video format (e.g. *.vob format)

-         Unsupported codec (e.g. AC3)

-         Huge file size (e.g. H.264 MP4 video of 10GB+)

-         High resolution (e.g. 1080p video and above)

-         Protections (e.g. iTunes videos)


In order to play universal video and movie clips on Samsung Galaxy Note 2, you may need to convert the incompatible movies into Galaxy Note supported MP4, WMV or DivX AVI files. For any video file over 4GB, we suggest you convert and compress it to 720p MP4 of 2-3GB.
