Just wondering how I would go about playing a 4k media file in Kodi. I have a few 4k sample downloads they use at tv sales stores and wanted to find out if they will play smoothly on kodi. I have an intel nuc5i5ryh with 8gm ram plugged up to a Sony 65" x8500c tv.

Play unsupported 4K media on Kodi

Although Kodi allows you to play media with 4K resolution with additional add-ons, however, it does not mean that you can throw 4K media with any file format to Kodi, only 4K media with file formats that supported by Kodi can be recognized by Kodi. Video codec: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.263, MPEG-4 SP and ASP, MPEG-4 AVC (H.264), H.265 (as from Kodi 14) HuffYUV, MJPEG, RealVideo, RMVB, WMV
